Attempting to include just numbering formats

I've had request for accepting this format - just numberings.
Showname.112.avi (eSS)
Showname.1724.avi (eeSS)

I'll see if it's possible to accept just numbers, but my plan is still to output files to ES or X formats.
OK?

It's hard to find examples of original filenames with just numbering formats.

Besides these two, are there any other ways?
Showname.112.avi (eSS)
Showname.1724.avi (eeSS)

Someone please post your original/new filenames with numbering formats.

Any thoughts on this feel free to comment too.

Thanks
-Alfred

Thanks Marc.

Here's a question. I've never come across such naming format before, at least not from the highest seeders.

How exactly did you all come up with such namings?
Are these renamed manually by yourself?

Also, I've seen my friend name his collection like:
01.title.avi
02.title.avi
03.title.avi and so on.
All the files are stored in a folder that has the show name and season number.

It's going to be harder if the file is renamed manually by end users, since there is no "standard" formats, it's hard to "guess" what the show name of the file.

They're from a private DC++ network on campus. Since the name of the files has no effect (they're IDed by a hashing/checksum process) he decided it would be a cool idea to rename all his files with his hub tag (Wicked). He also adopted a simple number format for all his shows shared.

Since he's one of the bigger sharers on our hub I can't avoid his badly named files.

Any chance this will make it into 3.1?

Hello,
First Off - Awesome, thanks very much. This tool is extremely useful and makes Sort Shows Much Easier.
One suggestion, is it possible to have an option to disable checking subfolders? I keep a lot of other downloads in the same folder and it takes too long to sort through the invalid filenames.
Thanks Again,
Much Appreciated.
Carl.

Anonymous - I can, but the thing is you should scan sub folders too.

Because there might be some torrents that come together in a folder.
If you don't scan sub folders, you might miss them.

And you will have to go to settings to turn on/off when needed.

I'd recommend in your bittorrent client, set your download completed folder to a place whereby your video collection won't be in the sub folder of the "download completed" folder.

Marc - Probably not, there isn't much comment here on this numbering format, so I'm gonna go slow on it.

First of all, I love the latest version! I think the next step would be to make it so that the program remembers which files it has renamed/skips files if they have the correct format so that you could define your tv-show drive/folder as the fetchfolder without having to wait for hours if you have thousands of files :)

Hi, ver 3.1 will let you choose to include sub folders.

I won't track what files have been named. If you have renamed thousands of files, the list would be huge, and theRenamer will still need to go through that big list, which could take time too.

The solution is to keep a folder just for new completed torrents. I'm sure you can set that in your bittorrent client.

And you should always turn on "include sub folders" since some torrents come with their own folders.

It would be great if you could detect shows that don't have the season/episode seperator between the numbers, eg:

life.213.hdtv-lol.avi
criminal.minds.413.bloodline-notv.avi
smallvl.810-notv.avi

So pretty much if there are 3 numbers, then grab only the first number as the season, or if there are 4 numbers, the first two must be the season.

Another helpful feature would be when renaming the files if the season number is < 10, to omit the leading 0 (or maybe a checkbox to switch on/off), eg:

"life.213.hdtv-lol.avi" would become: "Life - 2x13 - Re-Entry.avi", instead of "Life - 02x13 - Re-Entry.avi".

Also, any plans to include thetvdb.com or epguides.com support, as I have noticed some shows where the episode titles are missing (says Episode 1, etc) on IMDB actually have the proper titles on these other sites?

These are the only "issues" I have with the program, everything else is fantastic, keep up the good work!

pavlos - Yes, checking numbers will be my next task.
life.213.hdtv-lol.avi

Omit "0" for season is in 3.1 already. Still a beta as of now.

No plans to get titles from tvdb.com or epguides.com yet. I used to pull titles from epguides, but IMDB seems the best, overall.

Yes, I encountered missing titles in IMDB before (very rare), but they eventually get posted quickly.

Problem with getting numbers is because some show names have numbers.

like 24, 90210, 30 Rock....

What I plan to do is IF I do find numbers, it MUST be AFTER a "." or "_" or "-"

example:
90210.112.avi
24-112.avi
30Rock_112.avi

So I'm checking for separators like:
.
-
_

Any other special separators?
Numbers not as straight forward :(

how about joined episodes? some episodes that air the same day (season finales etc.) are posted on the net as a single file.

according.to.jim.5x2-3.avi

the Renamer said...

Anonymous - I won't drag them if I were you :)

according.to.jim.5x2-3.avi
theRenamer will think it's
Season 5, Episode 2

Since it's not a standard format, who's to say the file won't be named:

according.to.jim.5x2to3.avi or
according.to.jim.5x2&3.avi ...

Hard to check non standard namings.
I have come across such files myself, I just rename it manually.

I found a bug when trying to rename the latest ep. of two and a half men:

ren "...\two.and.a.half.men.s06e15.hdtv.xvid-fqm.avi" "Two and a Half Men - 06x15 - Episode #6.15.avi"

#..
